Teach Prehistory!

Teaching a unit on Prehistory can be very exciting! The course begins with an overview of prehistoric conditions on earth until about 1,000 B.C. We are talking about millions and millions of years in one unit, so obviously you need to focus on the absolute most important aspects of the prehistoric period. These include the Ice Ages, human origins, the evolution of human culture, human migrations, and the Stone Ages. Another important aspect of this unit is to help students understand how archeologists discover and learn about the prehistoric past! A good film to suplement this unit is Ice Man starring Timothy Hutton. Look for a learning packet for this movie in the Teach with Movies section of OwlTeacher.com.
